First week checklist
Starting something new can feel exciting, and maybe a little overwhelming at times. This checklist is here to guide you through the key steps to get started, and feel confident as you begin your learning journey.
Think of this as your first week essentials, some small things to do that will make a big difference overall.
Get Set Up
- Log in to your student Microsoft 365 account to make sure your username and password work
- Set up your student email account in Outlook to forward emails to your work account and accept any meeting invitations
- Bookmark important links such as Microsoft 365, Aptem, and My CII:
Understanding Your Course
- Complete your induction module
- Check your Aptem learning plan and student outlook calendar
- Familiarise yourself with the Microsoft Teams for your courses
Meeting People
- Attend your first sessions
- Introduce yourself to your trainer and your assessor
- Meet fellow students – post in the course team
Staying Organised
- Look at upcoming workshop and assignment due dates, ensure these are in your work calendar
- You may want to set up email forwarding from your Skills Edge account to your work account
- Set reminders for your sessions and assignments
- Create or arrange for a quiet space to study at home and work where you can focus
Keeping on Track
- Plan a healthy study routine, including breaks. Work with your workplace mentor to arrange your off-the-job training routine.
