This article will guide you on how to access your Microsoft 365 account
How to Log into Your Microsoft 365 Account
Microsoft 365 gives you access to Outlook (email), Teams, OneDrive, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other apps you’ll need during your programme. Follow the steps below to log in.
Step 1: Go to the Microsoft 365 Login Page
If you already use Microsoft 365 for work or personal use, it’s important to keep your apprenticeship account separate.
- Use a different browser (e.g. Chrome for work, Edge for apprenticeship).
- Or open an InPrivate/Incognito window when accessing your apprenticeship account. This prevents your accounts from clashing and makes sure you always log in with the correct details
- Open your internet browser (Chrome, Edge, Safari, etc.).
- In the address bar, type: www.office.com
- Press Enter on your keyboard.
Step 2: Sign In with Your Account Details
- Click the Sign In button on the Office homepage.
- Enter your Microsoft 365 email address provided by your training provider or employer.
- Example: firstname.lastname@skillsedgestudent.co.uk
- Click Next.
- Enter your password.
- This will be the temporary password provided to you, or the one you set yourself.
- Click Sign In.
Step 3: Set Up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
For extra security, you may need to confirm your identity with Microsoft Authenticator.
Installing Microsoft Authenticator
- On your smartphone, go to the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android).
- Search for Microsoft Authenticator and install it.
Linking the App to Your Account
- After you enter your email and password on Office.com, you’ll be prompted to set up the app.
- On your computer screen, a QR code will appear.
- Open the Authenticator app on your phone.
- Tap Add account → Work or school account.
- Point your phone’s camera at the QR code on your computer screen.
- The account will be added to your app automatically.
Using the App to Log In
- Each time you sign in, a notification will be sent to your phone.
- Open the Authenticator app, tap Approve, and you’ll be logged in securely.
- If you don’t have internet on your phone, you can open the app to see a 6-digit code and type this in on your computer.
Step 4: Choose “Stay Signed In” (Optional)
- If you’re using your own personal device, you can click Yes to stay signed in.
- If you’re on a shared or public computer, always click No.
